"You Win Again" is a 1987 song written past Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb and performed by the Bee Gees. Released as a single in late 1987, it marked the starting time of the grouping'southward comeback, becoming a No. 1 hit in many European countries, including topping the Britain Singles Chart—their start to practice so in over eight years—and making them the kickoff group to score a UK No. i hit in each of 3 decades: the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.[two]

Barry Gibb wrote the tune while blood brother Maurice conceived the drum sounds (in his garage[6]) that open the track. On "1000 UK #i Hits" by Jon Kutner and Spencer Leigh, Robin Gibb said "We absolutely thought that 'You Win Once again' was going to exist a large hitting. Information technology took us a calendar month to cut it and go the correct mix."[ii]

Maurice Gibb explained "You lot Win Again" in a May 2001 interview with Mojo:

"When we become together and write, it'due south not like three individuals ― it's like one person in the room. Usually, nosotros have a book of titles and we simply pick i. I loved 'Y'all Win Over again' equally a title, but nosotros had no idea how it might turn out equally a song. Information technology ended up as a large demo in my garage, and I recorded stomps and things. There was only i drum on there. The balance was simply sounds. Then, everybody tried to talk us out of the stomps at the first. They didn't desire it. 'Take it off. Besides loud! Tin can we have them not on the intro, merely when the music starts?' Nautical chart operation [edit]

"You Win Again" was a number one unmarried in the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Denmark and Norway, and reached the top ten in Italia, the Netherlands, Australia and Sweden. It as well topped the Eurochart for four weeks.

"Yous Win Once again" was released commercially on vinyl and cassette. The CD unmarried was not common in the tardily 1980s, though a 1-track CD single was produced as a promotional-but re-create given to radio stations and reviewers in the United States and a two-track mini CD single was commercially released in Japan. The song also appeared as a bonus rails on the American version of One, replacing the song "Wing and a Prayer".
