DIY Farmhouse Decor – "Gather" Sign Tutorial

I've been seeing farmhouse signs all over, and I had the perfect spot for one. Simply… either I couldn't detect one that fit the space I needed, or I didn't want to spend boo-koo's of money on one.

Then I took matters in to my own hands, and headed to Menards, and ordered letters online.

Custom Messages

I started by going to CraftCuts.com. I've been ordering letters from this website for years for decor and arts and crafts projects. I ordered a big G for my son'southward room, and had a FANTASTIC experience with them. And then I decided that since I can't draw worth a hoot, ordering letters for this sign would be the best bet.

I love ordering from them because I can select whatsoever size, font, letter color, type of material, etc. AND you become to preview information technology before ordering it, so you know what it'southward going to look like! (This is totally not a plug for CraftCuts.com. I only really enjoy ordering from them for these types of projects, and I wanted you lot to know about them for your ain projects!) You can option your letters to spell anything you similar, but for this space I knew I wanted information technology to say "Get together," since it'south the master room in our house where we gather with friends to eat! #foodislove

Lath Selection

I simply measured the space where I wanted the board, and when I went to Menards, I looked for a board that would fit the space the all-time. The board I picked out was actually way besides long for my space, and then I (ahem, my husband) cut this for me with his miter saw.

Pigment

I chose vivid white pigment for the board, to fit right along with the farmhouse look I was going for.

Tip for Placing Letters Perfectly

Once the board was painted/dry, we placed the letters on the lath with glue dots to brand sure they were even. They stayed on long enough to hot glue them for a permanent solution.

Finished!

That'south it! It was an affordable way to brand the sign that I was dreaming of for the breakfast nook. Once information technology was finished, I fastened information technology to the wall with Command Strips. I love those things. They're are ALL over my business firm.
